St Aidan’s Church

St Aidan’s is a modern church at the heart of the Stobhill area of Morpeth on the south east of the town.  Founded in 1957 as a mission church to the area, it has maintained an active outreach to the surrounding community, and especially to the pupils of Stobhillgate School and Collingwood School.

In April 2007, the Church celebrated its Golden Jubilee, with an exciting programme of events. In 2016 the Beacon Project initiative achieved new purpose-built community facilities at the site for use by the church and the local residents,  comprising a large hall, kitchen, office and toilets.  The exterior at St Aidan’s Church has also been transformed and a new car park is in place.

The building has a simple, vaulted roof and a pleasing symmetry of design.  The interior has maintains the exterior simplicity of line, with a light and airy worship space, compact but surprisingly spacious and with an excellent acoustic.

A wild flower area surrounds the site, as part of our Parish  commitment to maintain the natural environment.

We host a defibrillator on the outside of the church building.  The defibrillator is maintained by Morpeth Town Council.
